About Me

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in the 7th grade. I remember having a science teacher that was kind to me and more than being kind she gave me a hope that I could become something more. Basically, she inspired me. Since that day I decided I wanted to become a science teacher and help inspire at least one of my students. My goal has changed over the years and now I hope to inspire all of my students to greatness.
I grew up in Brooklyn Park, MN (near Minneapolis/St. Paul) and went to Robinsdale Cooper for high school. I graduated with honors, and went to the University of Minnesota in Duluth, MN. I studied there for six years and received degrees in Biology, Teaching Physics, and Teaching Life Sciences. Upon graduation I recieved a job outside of Chicago.
Following University I taught at a Christian school outside of Chicago in Aurora, IL. I taught Physical Science, Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology while there. After three years I found it was time for me to head back to Minnesota.
Following a summer of no teaching opportunities I found myself applying for a position in Shanghai, China. My goal was to move closer to home. On the same day I was offered a full year position in China I was also offered a half year contract with a school in Minnesota. I was given a weekend to decide. Upon guidance from my grandfather, I took the position in China. That year I traveled almost every other weekend. I had planned on only staying a year in China, and told my students at the start of the year that I would only be there for a year. During the year I fell in love with the culture and all that is China. During the winter of my first year I met my now wife. I continued to teach at the position in Shanghai, China until I was offered another job in a nearby town. I am starting to teach with Dulwich schools in Suzhou, China.
